Weekly Schedule
ACTIVITIES:We are a book club set up for women in the church. We meet every 4 to 5 weeks to discuss a book or video in someone's home. We read a variety of books; some more Christian based than others. These have included The Shack, The Girl with a Pearl Earring, and more recently, The Tattooist of Auschwitz. We all seem to have a different favourite and some books can cause more conversation than others. If you would like more information please contact the church to find out about the next meeting and the next book.
THE HEATHER CLUB – A Registered Charity No. 1015598: What is the Heather Club? – It is a Club/Day Centre, open on Mondays and Wednesdays each week, which welcomes older people, who may be confused and/or have memory loss and/or the early signs of a dementia illness. It is a place where Carers can leave their relative for the day in a safe and warm environment. What does the Heather Club provide? – Each person attending becomes a Club Member, and pays a small subscription, which goes towards their midday meal, transport (if needed), refreshments, and the cost of other day-to-day activities in running the club. Transport can be provided to and from the club each Monday and Wednesday, in a specially designed minibus with a tail lift from the Community Action Dacorumfleet, unless the carer wishes to bring the members in themselves. Upon arrival at about 10.00am, coffee, tea and biscuits are served, and then activities take place, which may consist of just chatting, games, such as cards, dominoes, jigsaws, reminiscence, art and craft, armchair exercises etc. or even just watching what is going on. In the afternoons there is a separate programme of entertainment, group games, outings etc. Further details here
Our Carey Hymn Cafe where we meet and share fellowship over a cup of tea and homemade cakes and sing favourite and traditional hymns, is open on occasional Tuesdays from 2.30 - 4.00pm in the Memorial Hall.
